The European Championships 2009 held in Stuttgart saw many TIBHAR sponsored players and Federations return home with medals.
The men team from Romania won the bronze medal after beating Croatia in the quarter finals in a match almost close to a thriller. Nevertheless one had to wait the 5th set to see Romania beat Croatia.
The title holder, the Dutch women team, defended their title. The trio Li Jiao, Li Ji and Timina Elena won against Poland 3 to 1. In the semi-finals the Dutch Team successfully beat the Czech Republic by 3 to 0.
The men double Wang/Blaszczyk managed to reach the finals after beating the French pair Lebesson / Eloi 4 to 2. Unfortunately the German duo Boll/Süss was stronger.
Although Tokic / Karakasevic performed remarkably, they were beaten in the semi-finals by the future European Champions from Germany.
The women double from Romania, Elizabeta Samara and Daniela Dodean put on their heads the crown of European Champions by winning the finals against their Italian adversaries.
Ruta Paskauskiene and her partner were stopped in the semi-finals where they lost against the future European Champions.
The German women double, Barthel/Silbereisen almost managed to reach the finals. After an extraordinary performance against Stefanova/Tan, they were defeated in the 7th set and won a very well deserved bronze medal.
One has to underline the extraordinary performance of the very young (she is only 18) Margaryta Pesotzka. The Junior European Champion managed to reach the finals. The young Ukrainian beat the title holder Ruta Paskauskiene in semi-finals 4 to 2. Only in the finals, she was defeated by Wu Jidua.
The whole TIBHAR team congratulates the great performances of their players while wishing them good luck for the future.
